Textural Presence

An Exhibition & Art Workshop 30th July 2023

Join Northern Beaches artists Bernadette Meyers & Joanna Greenwood for Textural Presence: a collaborative exhibition showcasing their latest work exploring Australian native flora, texture and mark-making.

This exhibition includes photography, pastel, charcoal, oil & watercolour artworks in a combination of abstract and representational styles. Joanna’s work expresses the vibrancy and energy of the Australian bush, while Bernadette’s evokes the serenity and peace that comes from being in nature.

During the workshop participants will create still-life works featuring banksias, using found objects from the local environment as art-tools. The workshop explores how different methods of mark-making can enhance elements including texture, meaning and symbolism in your work.

At the end of the workshop, not only will you have developed a new artistic skillset, you will also go home with three finished artworks, all created using the artistic tools you made during the workshop.

The exhibition is open 10am until 4pm and entry is free. Workshop 10am - 12pm | $110pp, all materials supplied.

ABOUT

Joanna's artistic practise focusses on expressive mark making that produces energy and movement.

She tells the story of the subject, its character and emotive construction, whether it be an object, scene or person.

Her commissioned experience ranges across multiple mediums and styles. She has designed characters for children's books and prints, as well as detailing favourite objects, places and people. She has created large scale original artworks to meet client design briefs. Joanna is happy to guide clients through the commission process to create truly meaningful works.

Joanna also works as a props stylist, utilising her artistic skills in a 3D environment, she ties the elements of a room together. Whether styling an entire home, showcasing a project or product, she creates warm, inviting spaces to suit varying styles.
